PROJECT TITLE: Ajok Hospital
PROJECT LOCATION: Jak Payam at Tonj South County, Warrap State, Southern Sudan
PROJECT DURATION: April 2010 to December 2016
Project Background:
The Comprehensive Peace Agreement was signed in 2005 between the North and the South Sudan. Afterward, tens of
thousands of peoples are returning to South Sudan particularly in Jak area in Warrap State. Currently, there is no
accessible Health Centre for the entire population of Jak Payam in Tonj South County. Due to these challenges, the
Padang Lutheran Christian Relief is committed to assist the returning population by meeting their spiritual and
physical needs through the comprehensive health care project.
Project Objective:
The Ajok Hospital provides community health care services to the people of Jak Payam for the purpose of
strengthening the Community who have endured extreme suffering through decades of civil war. As funds become
available, the Hospital construction project will begin immediately. The original phase of this hospital
construction will include the clinic with thirty inpatient beds along with laboratory and pharmacy. The new
hospital will provide the medical services to the entire population of Jak Payam and surrounding areas in Tonj
South County. After the construction, the hospital will be equipped with medical materials and qualified staff.
In 2009, PLCR has signed the MOU with the Sudan Education & development Association based in Warrap State in
Southern Sudan.
PLCR will manage this hospital project until May, 2017. Afterwards, the hospital will be handed over to the
Sudan Education and Development Association in Warrap State.
Sources of Revenue for this Hospital will come from the following:
- Consultation registration fees
- Laboaratory testing fees
- Maternity and admission fees
- Operations and maternity fees
- Donation from donors
- There will be some financial support for deprived patients
Financial support for this project:
Hospital construction cost: US$360,000
Hospital furnishings: US$80,000
Annual operating cost: US$100,000
Total project cost: US$540,000
