PROJECT TITLE: Nomlau Orphanage
PROJECT LOCATION: Nyongrial at Baliet County, Sudan
PROJECT DURATION: 2010-2014

PROJECT BACKGROUND:

After the devastation of civil war in Sudan, many children have been left orphans and lack the basic necessities of life. In response to these noticeable needs for the orphans in Nyongrial community, Padang Lutheran Christian Relief is working in partnership with the Nyongrial community to build the orphanage in Nyongrial.

PROJECT LOCATION:

The proposed orphanage will be built in Nyongrial site near the Sobat River in Baliet County. Nyongrial Payam is inhabited by about 50,000 people and is located in Baliet County, 30 miles east of Malakal city in Upper Nile State in Southern Sudan. Moreover, PLCR has acquired 25 acres land from the local government to build the orphanage facility. As funds become available, the construction will begin immediately. Once the orphanage is built, it will be staffed and maintained and hunger needs to be reduced. Land mine awareness also needs to be taught alongside rehabilitation of former child soldiers and other war affected children.

In addition, the Nomlau Orphanage will be the first orphanage in an area occupied by nearly five thousand orphans and other vulnerable children in Baliet County. PLCR is committed to provide the children with a strong Christian basis that they can then share with others in the future.

PROJECT OUTCOME:

Helping the orphans who are powerless to help themselves will relieve the economic pressure of the community in the village. As a result, it will facilitate the local community to focus on providing for their immediate families. Moreover, helping the orphans and other vulnerable children of the community with their daily needs in a loving environment will change the outcome of their lives.

PROJECT COST:

In this context, PLCR is seeking sponsors and donors to fund this Orphanage project. The proposed orphanage project can be realized for the following costs:

Orphanage construction cost: $ 55,000
Orphanage furnishings: $ 20,000
Annual Operating cost: $45,000

Total required financial assistance for this Project: $120,000
